Glassesbatch vs. my dad

Benedict Cumberbatch in those glasses at TIFF (here are a few photos, scroll down) reminds me a lot of my dad:



In fact I think those are the exact same frames. :p Anyone else getting a 1950s vibe? Also, is BC's hairline receding?

I'm voting yes. Although his father still has a fairly strong hairline, assuming he doesn't wear hairpieces.

Bei den Bildern mit der Brille von BC dachte ich sofort an Buddy Holly... *gg* soviel zu den 50s vibes.

Und die Haare... das sind vermutlich jetzt so die typischen "Geheimratsecken". An den Stellen dünnt das Haar bei Männern meist doch etwas aus.

I do think BC was going for a retro vibe with them. It works well, both for his personality and for the movie he was promoting.
I never heard Geheimratsecken before! Now I looked it up and it's apparently also called Ministerwinkel. I guess it's supposed to look distinguished? I don't even know if there's a special word for that specific pattern of hair loss (or hair thinning) in English. German is particular!

Even as I was typing the word, I guessed that you probably never heard it.

Our server at the office is down... the internet works... e-mail works... but the rest? Nada.
So I'm sitting here, twirling my thumbs and try not to think to hard about all the ironing at home *le sigh*
