Some thoughts: This fest was set up to have an equal number of fics/art for each House. For that reason, some of the statistics will not be comparable to other types of fests.
The ratings showed that, by and large, the focus was not on relationships, with 90% of the entries rated PG-13 or lower. In fact, only 7 of the 30 entries named a pairing in their header. This makes sense in that the idea behind the fest was to "explore Hogwarts, its houses, and the people involved with them throughout the school's history". There is still room within that for romance, but it is not the explicit focus.
The word counts were generally modest, with 84% of the fics under 4,000 words. It was requested that all submissions fit into a single LJ post, so that may account to some degree for the authors making an effort to keep their fics short.
The most popular characters are a bit unusual due to the structure of the fest. Since 3/5 of the participants were forced to focus on Houses other than Gryffindor and Slytherin, some less often featured characters got more airtime. Also, since one of the five Houses for this fest was the made-up 'Sparklypoo', OCs were necessarily featured more often. Not surprisingly, Harry was the most popular Gryffindor, and Luna and Pomona ended up being the most popular Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff, respectively.
It all boiled down to Severus being the most popular character overall, although he was actually only featured in 2 of the 6 Slytherin entries. The rest of his appearances were spread out among all 4 of the other Houses. He was also in 3 of the 7 named pairings, so by any measure he was a star.
