Some thoughts: What happened to the art? I would have said that maybe people were misled by the name of the community (D/G 'fic' exchange), even though the exchange rules do state that art is welcome, but last year there was a good batch of art. So I don't know.
The ratings showed a good range, with the clear favorite being PG-13 rated fics. However, with 14 fics rated R and above, smut was by no means neglected either.
The word counts show a fairly solid presence of all fic lengths, right up to the maximum allowed. Still, it is clear that the shorter range from 2-5K was a favorite, with nearly half of the fics (45%) in that range.
Looking at the comparison with last year, the numbers are slightly lower for this year's exchange, with 10% fewer gifts produced, but I wouldn't say that is statistically significant. As I mentioned, the amount of art last year was much higher, though. The number of G and PG-13 rated gifts were clearly higher last year, but that is mostly due to the art (which was all either G or PG-13). There was a slight increase in the amount of smut written in this year's exchange.
