Some thoughts: Smut was by far the way to go, with 90% of the fics (all but 2) rated R or NC-17. I guess that Charlie's main attraction is his hawtness factor.
The fic lengths were fairly evenly spread out between 1,000 - 12,000 words, with only a single fic being longer, and that one was nearly twice as long as any other. So although there were 4 months in which to write, hardly any authors took advantage of that to write novel-length fics.
Charlie was most often paired with another male, with nearly two-thirds (62%) of the fics having a slash main pairing. There were also three threesome/moresomes, representing all permutations (M/F/F, M/M/F, M/M/M/M).
Charlie did not favor one partner over any other, although he did favor Harry's generation, as all but two of his partners were in that general age group. The two exceptions were Severus and Scorpius.
Comparison with last year: This year's fest was significantly smaller than last year's, with 20 participants vs. 30 last year. I see this in part as a sign of the general decline of interest in the Harry Potter fandom, although 20 is still very viable for a single-character fest.
Last year's fest was also heavily R- and NC-17 rated, although it did have slightly more lower-rated fics as well, with 17% (5 out of 30) rated PG or PG-13.
The range of fic lengths was pretty much the same this year and last, although this year's longest fic was longer than last year's longest fic by over 2,000 words. The total word count last year was greater than this year, which makes sense given that there were 50% more fics written last year. However, the mean fic length this year was slightly longer. This is probably because this year's longest fic was so much longer than last year's, along with the fact that there was a heavier pooling of fics in the lowest range (40% of the fics were shorter than 3,000 words last year, as opposed to 35% this year).
The real difference this year was in who Charlie was romantically paired with. Last year, het was more popular by a margin of 63% to 37%. This year, the percentages were exactly reversed. In addition, last year, incest pairings were very popular, with Bill/Charlie being the most popular pairing and Ron/Charlie also appearing in 3 fics. This year, there was no incest at all. The second most popular romantic partner last year - Tonks - did not make a showing this year at all. And two of this year's most popular pairings (Charlie/Hermione and Charlie/Severus) did not appear last year. It just seems like there was a complete paradigm shift in Charlie's love life.
This might be because there was a different group of participants. If I've counted correctly, there were only 8 returnees this year. The remaining 12 participants were new. This could easily explain the change in which romantic partners were favored. (Edit: Obviously I cannot count, as there were actually 10 returnees, and 2 more who were repeat participants from 2010. This tips the balance in favor of more repeat participants than new ones, and doesn't help as much to explain the difference in pairings. :/)
