Interview:

My name's Benedict Cumberbatch, I've just done the Palace to Palace for the Prince's Trust. I'm an ambassador for this charity, and I'm really, really proud to be in that position, and so I thought I'd get on my bike, ??, and make some money.

How was the ride?

It was a fantastic bike route and we've had a blessedly lovely day. It was freezing to start off with, and we started in a later batch, we went off eight-thirty, I think, and a lot of people started at six, six-thirty. It was freezing to begin with, but it's- as you can see it's a glorious day, so we were served well by the weather.

How was the atmosphere?

It's been a lot of fun. I mean you go past incredible sights, and just the spirit of people on the road is fantastic, and the volunteers on every corner, directing you, telling you where to go, the mapping of it, everything was really well organized, the people we did it all with, really, yeah just really good hearts and good spirits. It was fun, and let's hope we raised an awful lot of money and awareness for the trust.

How did you find the training?

Training, good, yeah, I mean I used to cycle everywhere. I used to cy- I used to- That was how I got around London until I discovered the joy of mopeds and motorbikes, but I hadn't cycled properly for a long time, and so I had to get back on my bike about a month ago, three weeks ago. It wasn't too- I just, and I just, I used Regent's Park as a fantastic sort of inner-London velodrome-

Benedict supports The Prince's Trust

I really believe what it does for young people is much in need. The teen programs, which I've seen working first-hand, are a fantastic way of beginning an association with this trust which launches people who maybe come from underprivileged circumstances, whether it be trouble at home or at school, and just give them a second chance and a voice and a purpose and-
It's a charity that's helped hundred of thousands of young people's lives, so I'm very proud to be associated with that.

?? help people less fortunate than me is a joy to do. So to raise a bit of money today by covering forty-five miles was the ambition.
