This post is for discussing the 2013 German film "Freier Fall" starring Hanno Koffler and Max Riemelt. It is available online from the German broadcaster ARD until 9 September (only between the hours of 8 pm - 6 am CET due to adult content), or alternately there is currently a version with English subtitles on Youtube. The summary given on the Youtube channel:
The movie is not pornographic but does contain scenes of a sexual nature, both between two men and between a man and a woman, as well as full frontal male nudity. There are also depictions of homophobia including both verbal and physical violence.
I found this movie thought-provoking and I did enjoy it but I also found it frustrating, and I'd like to try to sort out some things about the characters and their motivations, as well as what the film-makers might have wanted to portray. Anyone who's seen the movie is welcome to join in, in either German or English. Some of my questions below the cut:

A promising career with the police, a baby on the way -- Marc's life seems to be right on track. Then he meets fellow policeman Kay and during their regular jogs Marc experiences a never-before-felt sense of ease and effortlessness -- and what it means to fall in love with another man. Torn between his family and his new feelings for Kay, Marc sees his world careening more and more out of control. Suddenly, his life is in free fall and Marc realizes that try as he may, he can't make everyone happy. Least of all, himself.
