Some thoughts: I love art, as it is so easily consumed, so I was a bit disappointed that no artists were inspired to create something for this fest. :( Artists are always in short supply, though, and there were so many holiday fests and exchanges going on that I suppose they already had their tablets full, so to speak.
The ratings were pretty low, with all but one fic rated PG-13 or less. I'm not sure why this should be, as the community certainly allows NC-17 material, and there was nothing in the fest rules about smut one way or the other. Maybe the prompts came across as more fluffy or angsty than sexy.
The pairings were amazingly standard. There was exactly one pairing for each type of fic (slash, het, femslash), although there were several fics in which other pairings were 'hinted at'. James/Sirius, for example, popped up twice as a hinted-at pairing, and James/Remus once. Still, I was pretty surprised at how much all the authors stuck to the same pairings. This may partially be attributed to the fact that several authors wrote more than one fic, and for the most part they wrote all of their fics on the same pairing (Sirius/Remus), with the exception of one author who wrote two gen fics.
It is interesting that the fourth Marauder, Peter, was completely shut out of the fest, although it's true that he is always the least popular Marauder. In addition, with the exception of the femslash fic, no one brought in any 'outsiders' to the pairings. There is plenty of fandom love for Remus/Severus, Lily/Severus, or Sirius/Regulus, for example. Yet the only main characters used were James, Lily, Remus, and Sirius (and Alice, in the one fic).
Slash (Remus/Sirius) made up the largest slice of the pie, with 44% of the entries. Het (James/Lily) was the second most popular, with 28% of the entries. It was nice to see a few gen entries as well, and also nice that femslash wasn't left out entirely.
The word counts reflected the relatively short creation period. Many authors posted their fics within a day or two of the prompt being posted, so clearly there was not time to write much longer fics. Thus, fully two-thirds of the entries were less than 1000 words. One author, however, did manage over 3,000 words within 5 days of the prompt being posted.
