Snupin Santa stats

lupin_snape posted their master list a week ago (wow, I'm behind!), but I sort of got distracted. :p Nevertheless, it's been burning a hole in my hard drive, begging to have its statistics done, and now here they are!

Some thoughts: This fest had a lot in common with the recent
hd_holidays exchange, although it was only about half as big (in terms of both number of participants and total words written). See my statistics for the H/D exchange for reference. Still, it was a very popular fest, showing that Lupin/Snape is still strong in the fandom.
There was a very high percentage of art in this exchange, and -- always fun -- a mix as well. The art, as usual, was generally lower rated than the fics. Only 36% of the art was rated R or higher, compared to 67% of the fics. There were no G-rated fics at all, while G was the most frequent rating for the art, with 36%. This is very similar to
hd_holidays, where there were also no G-rated fics, and the majority of the fics (but not the art) was rated R or higher. Thus, I would draw the same conclusion for this fest, which is that the physical side of the relationship is very important to the Snape/Lupin ship. However, it is certainly not the only attraction, as is evinced by the large number of long fics. (Again, similar to the case with the aforementioned H/D exchange).
Here, hardly any authors stuck to the lowest possible word count (1,500), although the largest number of fics was in the next length category, at 2-3K. Still, 3/4 of the authors wrote at least twice as many words as required, and 6 (nearly 1/5, again similar to the H/D exchange) went over Big Bang length (20K). As long as I'm making comparisions, though, I'd like to point out that the creation period for this exchange was only 2 months, whereas for
hd_holidays it was 3 months. So the fact that the average fic length is nearly the same (12K as opposed to 13K), and that the longest fic for this exchange (49K) in fact surpassed the length of the longest fic in the H/D exchange (41K), is even more amazing.

Date: 2011-01-14 09:21 am (UTC)Thank you SO MUCH for doing this - I am a total statistics nerd! I am going to post about this in my next mod post, although you are welcome to beat me to the punch by posting to the community yourself - you would probably get more comments that way, and you totally deserve them for the hard work. I will make sure others see this, though, if you have your reasons for not posting.
*HUGS* Thank you so much! What a fun, wonderful surprise! ♥

Date: 2011-01-14 09:59 am (UTC)The reason I only post in the comments and not to the comm as a whole is that I want to leave it up to the mods whether to make a community post. Sometimes the mods do their own statistics for fests, and I don't want to steal anyone's thunder.
But I'd be flattered of course if you wanted to link to this in a regular community post. ;)
