Some thoughts: The amount of art for this fest was pretty low. However, the artworks that were produced were fantastic, multi-paneled pieces that I'm going to link to here because they're kind of hard to find in the master list, as they are mixed in with the fics:
The Way Things Change by
inverts [ART/FIC COMBO]
Skating by
julvett [ART]
Reconnaissance by
inverts [ART]
(All are rated G/PG.)
The ratings were relatively mild overall, with 3/4 of the submissions rated PG-13 or less. I find this rather unusual, especially since there is plenty of Marauders smut in fandom. One reason for the low ratings will probably be the large amount of genfic, although gen could also be rated R or even NC-17 if it were dark or violent enough.
The word counts were fairly typical for a fest of this scope, with 2/3 of the submissions under 5,000 words, a few mid-range one-shots, and one fic much longer than the rest. In fact, the one long fic was more than twice as long as the second longest fic, and accounted for fully 1/4 of the total words written!
(By the way, the total word count I came up with was different than the total word count produced by the mods: 142,114 vs. 135,000. I'm not sure why this happened, unless the mods rounded the numbers for their count, or I copied one or more of the word counts wrong. It's not a huge discrepancy, but still thought I'd mention it.)
Sirius and James ended up being the clear favorites in this fest, for different reasons. There was quite a bit of Sirius gen!fic, especially showing him together with his brother, Regulus. However, James was more often portrayed in a pairing (or moresome). In fact, of the eight pairings/moresome featured in this fest, only two (Lily/female!Remus and Sirius/Remus) did not include James!
The most popular pairings (and the only ones featured more than once) were the canon Lily/James, and the very nearly (in my opinion) canon Sirius/Remus. Rare pairings accounted for the rest.
The large amount of Sirius/Remus and James/various contributed to slash being the most popular alignment for this fest. Lily/James was the only het pairing portrayed. And one artist even managed to get in some femmeslash by portraying Remus as a female.
